Robert Joseph Thuemling Sr., age 79 and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born March 2, 1944 in Cleveland to the late Fred and Louise Katherine (nee Schmitz) Thuemling. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Bob was employed as a civil engineer for 40 years at the former Lorain Telephone Company (Centurylink), from where he retired in 2006. In his youth, he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed
hunting and fishing. He was a Cleveland Indians fan and was an enthusiast of classic cars.
Survivors include his wife Susan Ann (nee Swidecki), sons Robert J. Thuemling Jr. (Melanie) and Michael Thuemling, and grandchildren Louis and Marie Thuemling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Fred and Steven Thuemling.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at noon on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Teresa Church, 1878 Abbe Rd., Sheffield. Rev. Louis Carey will officiate. Burial with miltary rites conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until noon at St. Teresa's Church.
