James "Jay" E. Kennedy

James "Jay" E. Kennedy, age 83 and a resident of New Russia Township, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 3, 2023 with his loving wife at his side.

Jay was born July 18, 1940 in McCreary County, Kentucky to the late Onzy and Evelyn (nee Bolin) Kennedy.  In his childhood, Jay moved with his family to Lorain County.  For 27 years he was employed by E & L Transport of Lorain, where he worked as a painter/sandblaster.  He loved fishing and hunting all throughout his life.  He also enjoyed repairing bicycles and later in life became proficient at using the home computer.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Ivie L. (nee Stacey) Kennedy, daughter Debi Myers (Ken) of Virginia, grandchildren; Cortney Myers of Virginia, Kristen Bell of Virginia, Michael Sagert of Columbus, great grandson Elliot Sagert of Columbus, sisters Rhonda Mullins of Kentucky and Diane Watson of Nebraska, brother Tom Kennedy (Jamie) of Amherst, sister-in-law Ruth Sigman, and brother-in-law Bill Stacey.

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at which time the funeral service will take place with Rev. Mark Telepak officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
