Ruth Spencer (nee Jones), age 86 and a resident of Wellington, passed away after a long illness at The Abbewood, Elyria on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Ruth was born April 13, 1937 in Progress, West Virginia to the late Corbett and Ruby (nee Dobbins) Jones. During the 1950s Ruth moved to Ohio with her husband William, residing in Elyria and relocating to Wellington in 1964 where they remained and raised their family. Throughout her life Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, day trips to casinos, and playing bingo. Survivors include her five children; Sandra Fahler (Carl), Thomas Spencer (Lisa), Patricia Kimmel (Jim), Gary Spencer (Leslie), David Spencer (Anne), nine grandchildren; Christy DeJesus (Miguel), Steven Fahler, Andrew Fahler (Shannon), Tara Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel, Ashley Plum (Nick), Amanda Spencer, Bradley Spencer (Alexa), Grace Spencer (Jordan), ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death he her husband of 53 years William F. Spencer (2007), her grandson Nicholas Spencer, sister Helen, and brothers Gene and Paul. Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home 851 Park Avenue, Amherst, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
