Robert Riggs Bailey, age 89 and a longtime resident of Amherst, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Riggs was born December 25, 1932 in Lorain to the late John C. and Nathalie (McMillan) Bailey. He was a graduate of both Lorain High School and Kent State University. Riggs was a high school art teacher, teaching first at Firelands High School and retired from Vermilion High School after teaching for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, singing in the choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church Amherst, and participating in many of the church's organizations. Survivors include his sons Aaron of Amherst and Ryan of Columbus, 4 grandchildren; Terra Bailey of Vermilion, Samantha Bailey of Columbus, Mckenna Bailey of Columbus, Emerson Bailey of Columbus, great granddaughter Alisa Holloway, his sister Susan Lukasic of Amherst, and his niece Rae Molnar of Mansfield. Memorial Mass to be held at a later day with a Celebration of Life. Arrangements entrusted to Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, Amherst.
