Richard M. Mika, age 89, and a resident Amherst, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at Amherst Manor. Richard was born October 27, 1933 in Elyria to the late Milan and Betty Mika (nee Palagyi). He was a graduate of Elyria High School. After graduating high school he joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed perch fishing, bowling, playing bingo, collecting comic books and sports cards, and was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams. Richard worked in security for 25 years before retiring at Fisher Body - General Motors in Elyria in 1987. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Delores Mika (nee Osyk), his son Tom Mika of Lorain, granddaughter Hayle Mika, and his brother Dennis (Corky) Mika in California. Visitation is Wednesday, from 4-6 pm at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. Rev. Timothy O'Connor, pastor will officiate. Everyone please meet at church. Burial with Military Rites will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
