Raymond "Ray" D. Galindo, age 72 and a resident of Elyria, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Ray was born November 2, 1951 in Sandusky to the late William and Ruth (nee Rodriguez) Galindo.  Ray was a member of the Class of 1970 of Elyria High School.  He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, serving s a communications specialist in Germany.  For 40 years Ray was employed as a crane operator at United States Steel, Lorain, retiring in 2013.  Ray loved his many years of working at the steel mill.  Throughout his life the most important part of his life was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed collecting antique toys and was especially fond of his blue Camaro and all fast cars.

He was a member of Amvets Post 32.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years Carla Joy (nee Hayes) Galindo, their three children; Naomi R. Galindo, Raymond W. (Bridget) Galindo, Jesse R. Gardner, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his nine siblings; Mary DeMichele, Jackie Burmeister, Chris Barnett, Bonnie Lane, Jeannie Linton, Ron, Richard, and Bill Galindo, and James Adams.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his siblings Valentina, Russell, & Robert Galindo, and his grandson Tyzhaun Galindo.

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Friday, June 28, 2024 from noon until 2 p.m.  At 1:30 p.m. the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will perform military rites followed by services given by his family.
