IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Penny Lee
(Nee Hunsaker) Taylor
December 23, 1952 – August 26, 2025
Penny Lee Taylor, of Lorain, Ohio, and longtime resident of Oberlin and Amherst, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on December 23, 1952, Penny lived a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. The daughter of Paul and Agnes Hunsaker, Penny grew up with her brothers, Paul Jr. and Larry. On April 3, 1982, she married the love of her life, Bruce Taylor. Together they shared many years of happiness, raising two sons, Kevin and Kyle, and later celebrating the joy of her grandson, Brayden. Penny and Bruce created lasting memories traveling together, from their honeymoon in Hawaii to family trips to Walt Disney World and a Disney cruise to Jamaica, where she proudly climbed into a dormant volcano. After Bruce's untimely passing, Penny showed remarkable strength and selflessness by raising her two boys on her own and even accomplishing her dream of building a house for them, a lasting symbol of her devotion as a mother. Penny dedicated 40 years of her career to USG Interiors, beginning as a transportation and logistics manager before being promoted to accounting manager. She was admired for her reliability, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Outside of work, Penny embraced life with joy and curiosity. She loved cooking, cross-stitching, and reading magazines, and she found great enjoyment in sci-fi television, as well as music from *NSYNC and Britney Spears. A Disney enthusiast at heart, she cherished her trips to Florida and her passion for beachside living, often collecting seashells and sand as keepsakes of her travels. Faith and community were guiding forces in Penny's life. She was a dedicated member of Delaware Avenue Methodist Church, where she shared her compassionate and caring spirit with others. Those who knew her best will remember her as kind, selfless, and strong—a woman whose love for her family and friends knew no bounds.
Penny's legacy lives on in her sons, Kevin and Kyle; her grandson, Brayden; her brothers, Paul Jr. and Larry; and the many lives she touched through her compassion, strength, and love. Visitation for Penny will be held at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday at noon at the funeral home with her final resting place at Elmwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Bruce and her parents, Paul and Agnes.
