Leslie Lee “Les” Hetrick, age 87, a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home following a short illness.

Born in Lindsey, Les was the son of the late Carl and Gladys (née Payden) Hetrick. On May 4, 1963, he married the love of his life, Carol. Together, they moved to Lorain, where they built a home and a life centered on love, commitment, and family. Les was known for his strong work ethic, steady nature, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Les and Carol shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2017.

He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad until taking early retirement, and he took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Les found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed bowling and golf, and he had a special talent for chair caning. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers, and he also cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, who were the center of his world.

He is survived by his children: Kevin (Nikki) Hetrick; Lesley (Tad) Majoras; and Jonathan (Jessica) Hetrick; his grandchildren: Taylor Hetrick; Tristine (Scott) Obranovich; Jordan and Jacob Majoras; and Chase Hetrick; and his great-grandchildren: Maya and Ellie Obranovich. He also leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, and his sister, Karen Myers.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Les’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
