Jerry L. Hartle, age 68 and a life resident of South Amherst, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 3, 2024. Jerry was born in Amherst on May 21, 1956 to the late Earl and Ethel (nee Twaddle) Hartle. He was a 1974 graduate of the former South Amherst High School. Throughout his life, Jerry was a sought after tire repairman, working at various local mechanic shops. Most recently he was employed at Warehouse Tire in North Ridgeville. All through his life Jerry enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Jammie (nee Kizzee) and Matthew Frye, grandchildren; Ezekiel, Ezra, Corazon, Zedediah, and Zurie Frye, his companion Tammie Kudlo, siblings; Barbara Zack, Dorothy Woznicki, William Hartle, Marjorie Rehak, Ronald Hartle, Charles Hartle, Jane (Richard) Beran, and James Hartle, six nieces and seven nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years Christine (nee Machovina) Hartle. Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Deacon Pat Humphrey, will officiate. Private family interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In Jerry's honor, memorials may be made to biggreen.org . The Big Green non-profit organization provides grants for community gardens at schools.
