Janet N. Vance (nee Osborne), age 99, a resident of Vermilion and formerly of Amherst, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Mill Manor, Vermilion.

Janet was born October 15, 1926 in Elwood City, Pennsylvania to the late James and Anna (nee McConnell) Osborne. Following high school she was employed at a photography studio until she married her husband Duane S. Vance on November 28, 1945. They moved to Lorain in 1947 when her husband became employed at the former United States Steel, Lorain. She was a homemaker and also while raising her children she was a Girl Scout Leader at Larkmoor School in Lorain.

Janet enjoyed camping with the Holiday Rambles Trailer Club from 1958 - 2007. She also liked fishing, crafts and traveling.

Survivors include her daughter Cynthia A. (Ronald) Palmer of Vermilion, grandchildren; Darrin Palmer of North Ridgeville, James Palmer of Elyria, Christine (Jeremy) Nance of Amherst; and great-grandchildren; Morgan, Gavin, Lauren, Donovan, and Jillian.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Duane S. Vance (2014) and son Dennis L. Vance (1966).

Friends will be received Friday, December 26, 2025 at Garland Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
