Ivie "Lucy" Kennedy (nee Stacey), age 87 and a longtime resident of New Russia Township, passed away at her home on Monday, November 6, 2023 from complications of a stroke. Lucy was born May 29, 1936 in Tazwell County, Virginia to the late Clarence P. and Helen B. (nee Smith) Stacey.  Throughout her life she was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting dolls, cooking, gardening, quilting, and crocheting. Most important to Lucy was spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Debi (Ken) Myers of Virginia, grandchildren; Cortney Myers of Virginia, Kristen Bell of Massachusetts, Michael Sagert of Columbus, John Hyatt of Pennsylvania, her great grandchildren; Elliot Sagert, Victoria, Emily, and Madalyn Bell, sister Ruth Sigman of Mt. Vernon, and brother Bill Stacey of Mt. Vernon. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years James "Jay" E. Kennedy (2023), grandson Corey Hyatt, granddaughter Dawn Hyatt, and sisters Mavis Ellison and Mary Freeman. Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at which time the funeral service will take place with Rev. Mark Telepak officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
