Obituary

Ida S. Horvatich (nee Yuhasz), 99 of Amherst, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 6, 2022 after a brief illness. Ida was born April 15, 1922 in South Lorain where she lived until 1958. She moved to Amherst in 1959 and resided there for the remainder of her life. In her early hears, Ida worked as a waitress and short order cook, but her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker. She often went with her late husband John on his bakery route before his retirement in 1979. She assisted her husband John with conducting military honors for the Disabled American Veterans where John served as chaplain for nine years. She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at Amherst Hospital for 25 years. She was a life member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Lorain, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst, and a former member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Amherst. She was active in many of the organizations within the churches. Ida enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, baking, mailing occasional cards filled with surprises, and enjoyed blessing family and friends with practical everyday essential items. Survivors include her daughters Charlotte Ramirez (Max deceased) of Elyria and Tina (Ron) Muska of Amherst; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. Ida was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years John J. Horvatich (1988), infant son Thomas J. (1961), brothers Frank and Louis (Bundi) Yuhasz, sisters; Julia Yuhasz, Elizabeth (Betty) Solka, Anna Yuhasz, parents Andrew and Suzanna (Susie) (nee Veres), and son-in-law Max Ramirez Jr. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. The Rev. Paul Werner, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Dr., Amherst, OH 44001, The Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 East 31st St., Lorain, OH 44055, or St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 582 Church St., Amherst, OH 44001.
