IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Louise
Higginbotham
October 13, 1938 – March 12, 2026
Helen L. Higginbotham (nee Coburn), age 87 and a resident of Lorain, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 12, 2026. For many years, Helen resided in Amherst prior to making her home with her son.
Helen was born on October 13, 1938, in Greenup County, Kentucky to the late Riley and Gladys Coburn. In addition to being a homemaker, in her younger years, Helen drove a yellow school bus and also worked as a kindergarten teacher aide at the former Hawthorne Boone School in Lorain. Later in life, she was employed in the housekeeping department at the former Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, crocheting, arts and crafts, and while she was working within her house, she could be heard singing throughout the day.
She was well-loved and cared for by her son, Harold, for a time. Then, for many years, she was cared for by her son William "Billy" and his family, until his passing. She spent her final months and days being well-loved by her son, David. Helen passed peacefully and was loved by all.
Survivors include her son, David of Lorain, eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton (2006), sons Harold and William "Billy", and her brothers Albert, Leroy, and Dick Coburn.
Family will receive friends at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Mark Telepak will officiate, with burial following in Elmhurst Memorial Park, Avon.
