Carolyn Marie Fike (nee Danser) age 71 and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born March 15, 1952 in Grafton, West Virginia to the late Charles H. and Edith P. (nee Powell) Danser. She was a 1970 graduate of Clearview High School. Carolyn was married to Vernon R. Fike on February 27, 1971 and they made their home in Lorain, raising their family there until moving to Amherst in 2011. Carolyn was a substitute cook for Clearview Schools from 1987-1991, and then in 1992 went on to become the head cook at the former Lorain Catholic High School where she remained until the closing of the school in 2004. Carolyn enjoyed flower gardening, playing bingo, and going to casinos. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1662, Amherst and was vice-president of the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442 Ladies Auxiliary, Amherst. Survivors include her son Michael Fike of Sheffield Lake, daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jeff McCarthy of Amherst, five grandchildren; Zachary Fike, Alicia Fike, Nathaniel Fike, Joseph Cesare, Brandon McCarthy, and three great grandchildren; Lunetta, Sofia, and Ryker. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Vernon R. Fike (2013), grandson Justin Cesare (2019), and her brother Charles Danser (2019). Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. Pastor Rich Henry of The River will officiate Carolyn's funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
