Carl R. Swartz, age 94 and a resident of Amherst, and formerly residing in Lorain, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at Avon Oaks Caring Community.

Carl was born in Willard on May 25, 1929 to the late John and Edna (nee Geren) Swartz.  He was a 1947 graduate of the former Amherst High School.  Carl retired in 1989 from the former BF Goodrich Chemical Company, Avon Lake where he was employed for 30 years and retired as a supervisor.  After retiring he and his wife Barbara enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV throughout the United States.  They were members of First Baptist Church of Sheffield Lake.

Survivors include his five children; Carl Richard "Dick" Jr., Larry (Jane), Cindy (Kirk) Romes, Mary Amador, Nan (Mario) Berdiel, 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and brothers Gordon, John, and Harry.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Barbara "Barb" Jean (nee McCullaugh) Swartz, his brother Paul, sisters Jackie and Darlene, and son-in-law Gilbert Amador.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst.  The funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with Pastor Billy Glover of Steel City Church of Sheffield Lake, officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
