Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of our mother Beverly Mellen of Amherst.  Beverly passed on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the age of 97 after a short stay with Stein Hospice.

In quiet moments of reflection, we shall carry Beverly's memory with us, a guiding light illuminating the path ahead.  May Beverly's journey be filled with peace and serenity, as she finds rest in the embrace of eternity.

Beverly was born on August 16, 1927 to Charles and Opal (Bryner) Hambley.  She attended Lorain High School and was a member of the Class of 1945B.  Kenneth and Beverly were married on April 20, 1946.

Beverly's hobbies included sewing, reading, traveling with her husband during his service in the Air Force, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons Kenneth A. Mellen (Roberta) of Collins and James Mellen (Amber) of Lorain, daughters; Peggy Vale (James) Of Homosassa, Florida, Debra Mellen (Carl Nau) of Lorain, Aimee Linn (Rodney) of LaGrange, Janet Hollingsworth (Dave) of New London, Patricia Zvosec (Mark) of Lorain, Donna Porter (George) of Windsor, Colorado, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and her sister Judy Holden.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Mellen, sons Norman Mellen and John Mellen, granddaughter Stacy Linn, her parents Charles and Opal Hambley, and her brother Charles Hambley.

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m.  Pastor Rich Henry will officiate with burial following in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.

Memorials may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870.
