Obituary

Betty Lou Welch (nee Moore), age 83 and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Kingston of Vermilion after a one year illness.

Betty was born January 7, 1942 in Silver Ortore, West Virginia to the late Samuel and Sylvia (nee Brady) Moore.  After her husband's passing, Betty moved to Amherst Township 25 years ago to be near her family.  While residing here, Betty first worked as a cook at the former Rainbow Restaurant in Amherst.  She then went on to be a tax preparer at H & R Block which was in Elyria, and lastly she was employed at the former Nickel's Bakery of Lorain, where she was a stock clerk and a cashier.  Throughout her life she loved to knit and crochet, especially afghans and doilies.  For several years she was a member of an all women's bowling league at Park Lanes, Amherst.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Lisa Welch of Wakeman, daughter-in-law Amy Welch of Wakeman, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Welch (1999), son Jeffery Welch (2024), sister Norene Hoover, and her brother Jack Moore.

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m.  Pastor Josh Bender of Sandstone Community Church, South Amherst, will officiate with burial following in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
