Betty Jane Botamer (nee Hollingsworth), age 97 and a longtime resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 after a brief illness. Betty was born May 13, 1924 in Elyria to the late George and Katherine (nee Myers) Botamer. She was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School where she met her sweetheart Robert W. Botamer and married him on October 26, 1946. They remained together for 64 years until his death in 2010. Throughout their married life, Betty, Robert, and their family enjoyed camping trips and making chocolate candy and Easter candy. She was also a cook for the Amherst School System working mainly at the high school. Survivors include her sons James of Amherst, Thomas of Minnesota, son-in-law Ted Zunis of Berlin Heights, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and her brother-in-law Joe Farkas of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie Zunis (2017). Family will receive friends on Friday, October 15, 2021 from noon until 1 p.m. time of service at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
