Alva Dotson, age 82, a resident of Lorain and formerly of Sheffield Village, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at his home from a sudden illness.
Alva was born August 10, 1942, in Dorothy, West Virginia to the late James and Margaret (nee Blankenship) Dotson. He was a graduate of Clearfork High School of West Virginia. Alva retired as an independent contractor, working as a window and door installer through Lowe's Elyria store. During his working career, his favorite job was as a bus driver for Greyhound, where he was employed from 1965 to 1978. He was an avid collector of Greyhound memorabilia and was a proud American who was an admirer of President Donald J. Trump.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Scott Edmundson of Amherst, and his grandchildren, Christian Edmundson (Bailey) of Amherst and Ryan Edmundson of Amherst.
In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda (2011), his wife Elaine (2022), and his eleven siblings.
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Pastor John Jacobs will officiate with burial following in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
