Alfonsina J. Donofrio (nee Scalzitti), age 93 and a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Mercy New life Hospice, Lorain. Alfonsina was born in Italy on March 12, 1929 to the late Florideo and Concetta Scalzitti. She married her beloved husband Vincent Donofrio on November 29, 1950 in Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1951 residing in Lorain since. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. Alfonsina was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and worked in the school cafeteria as monitor from 2002-2017. All throughout her life she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Survivors include her four children; Michael Donofrio of Lorain, Janice Donofrio of Lorain, Patricia Glime (Allen) of North Carolina, Diane Montemorano (Tom) of New Jersey, nine grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Alfonsina was preceded in death by her husband Vincent (1991), her parents, and brothers John and Nick Scalzitti. There will be a memorial mass at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, December 2, 2022 at St. Peter Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Pastor Rev. Craig Hovanec will officiate with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Friends received at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:30 a.m. Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, Amherst, entrusted with arrangements.
