OBITUARY
THOMAS E. SHOUP

Thomas “Tom” E. Shoup, age 94 and a longtime resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at his residence after a lingering illness.
Tom was born October 7, 1926 in Orrville to the late Rilla (nee Yoder) and Elton Shoup. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 working with aircraft radio and radar maintenance. Tom received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron in 1949. While attending college, he was a member of the Sigma Tau Fraternity, was a member of the varsity track team, and held a membership with the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. From 1952 until his retirement in 1988 Tom was employed at the former Nelson Stud Welding, Lorain as an engineer. He enjoyed playing tennis, flying remote control airplanes, and sailing.
Tom was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lorain.
Survivors include his four sons; Matthew (Diana) of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Ronald of Las Vegas, Nevada, Randall (Kristina) of Athens, Timothy of New York, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister Julie Ann Grisson of Florida, and his life companion Ruth Hayes of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine (nee Matthews) Shoup (1986).
There will be a Celebration of Life held 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, 1019 W. 5th St., Lorain. Rev. Rosalina Rivera, pastor will officiate.
