OBITUARY

ROY D. SMITH

Roy Dwight Smith, age 68 and a resident of Elyria, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

 

Roy was born September 2, 1953 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Roy Kindelberger and the late Mildred Milligan.  He was a 1972 graduate of Lorain High School.  Roy owned and operated Paiges Carwash and Smith Properties, both of Elyria.  Formerly he managed South Amherst Mobile Home Park for 15 years.  Roy loved to fish and spend time boating on Lake Erie.  He was known as a man of many trades.

 

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Mary Lee (nee Taylor) Smith, their four children; Roy (Erica) Smith, Michael (Jennifer) Smith, Christina (Marco) Gonzalez, Rebecca (Frank) Butcher, all of Elyria, seven grandchildren; Corey Guillozet, Mackenzie Stammitti, Dominic and Vincent Smith, Marco and Julius Gonzalez, Kynlee Butcher; great grandson Asias Gonzalez; father and step-mother Roy and Kristine Kindelberger of Pennsylvania; siblings; Brian, John, and Kurt Milligan, Cheri Kuhns, Ronda Milligan, Michelle, Smith, Melinda Shenker, and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his mother, Roy was preceded in death by his step-father Wilbert “Dutch” Milligan and sisters Karen Milligan and Tressa Nichols.

 

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Monday from 5-7 p.m.  The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Broadway Assembly, 5495 Broadway, Lorain.  Pastor Matt Jones will officiate with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roy’s honor may be made to Broadway Assembly, 5495 Broadway Ave., Lorain, OH  44052.
