OBITUARY
MARILYN R. ELLIS

Marilyn R. Ellis (nee Carroll), age 74 and a longtime Lorain resident, passed away at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon after a short illness on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Marilyn was born in Athens, Alabama on October 11, 1947 to the late Jesse R. and Ruth O. (nee Hargrove) Carroll. She was a 1965 graduate of Lincoln High School, Cleveland. Marilyn was employed for over twenty years at SBS Transportation, Lorain where she worked as a bus monitor serving the Murray Ridge School. Throughout her life she liked to collect interesting gadgets. For many years she enjoyed her membership in the River Church of the Nazarene in Amherst. Most important in Marilyn’s life was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include her sons Steve (Shirley) Ellis of Vermilion and Tony Ellis of Amherst, step-son Kenny Ellis of Florida, step-daughter Pam Ellis of Lorain, 27 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and her sister Janet Coleman of Cleveland.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Ellis (2005), daughter-in-law Catherine Ellis, granddaughter Alyssa Ellis, sister Sarah Mounts, brother Phil Carroll, and brother-in-law Gary Coleman.
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Jay Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
