Lois R. Petre (nee Traster), age 88 and of Lorain County, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria after a brief illness. 

 

Lois was born in Amherst, February 28, 1933 to the late Willard and Teresa (nee Gressler) Traster.  Lois resided in Amherst until 1988 which is when she retired and moved to Cambridge until returning to reside in Vermilion in 2001.  She formerly was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion.  Throughout her life she was a homemaker and during the 1960s she was employed as a cashier at City Loan, Lorain, and had been a bookkeeper at the Lorain Telephone Company.  Lois enjoyed reading and crafts, and loved nature and animals.  Most important to her was being a caregiver to her family.

 

Survivors include her granddaughter Alison Ortenzi of Elyria, sister Barbara Sherman of Missouri, and her brother Gary Traster of Michigan.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Joseph Petre (1997), daughter Jo Ann Ortenzi (2004), son-in-law Angelo “Mike” Ortenzi (2000), and sisters Donna Bryant and Dolores Gearhart.

 

Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Friday from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. time of service with Fr. Ron Brickner officiating.

 

Private interment in Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, Ohio.
