John Leonard Fazio, 76, a resident of Amherst, died Saturday, February 19, at New Life Hospice. John was born December 24, 1945, second born of Joseph and Leona (Zientarski) Fazios’ three children. In 1964, John graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain, Ohio. John proudly served in the United States Army. Following his return home from the Army he worked at Lorain U.S. Steel for over 30 years before his retirement. John was a devoted Catholic and member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of South Amherst. John was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife of 15 years Linda Fazio (nee Satterfield), his son, Luke Fazio of Lorain, four step-children; Thomas (Kendra) Kolesar and their 3 children of Lorain,  Amy (Eric) Morgan and their 4 children of Elyria, Jennifer Rector and her 3 children of Elyria, Melanie (Wilson) McKinney and their 2 children of Amherst, his granddaughter Kayleigh (Matthew) Fazio-Kusznir of Lorain,  and two great- grandchildren, his brothers; Dennis (Ruth) Fazio of Lorain, and       

Mark Fazio of Chicago.


In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Donna Fazio (nee Kolesar; 1998) and his daughter Wendy Fazio (1982).


Family will receive friends at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 4-7p.m. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Church of Nativity, 333 S Lake St, South Amherst. Rev. Timothy O’Connor, pastor will officiate.  Burial will follow St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
