Emeric "Mike" Stanar, age 79 and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 27, 2022 after a brief illness.

 

Mike was born October 31, 1942 in Youngstown to the late Emeric and Sue (nee Raymond) Stanar.  He was a graduate of South High School, Youngstown.  Throughout his life, Mike worked in the steel manufacturing industry first in Youngstown and then moved to Lorain County where he retired from United States Steel Corporation, Lorain in 1999 after 33 years of combined service. He loved singing karaoke, exercising, riding his bicycle, watching western movies on television, attending antique and hotrod car shows, travelling, and most importantly spending time with his family.    

 

Survivors include his loving wife Rhonda L. (nee Blinco) Stanar, daughter Lisa Pertee of Sunbury, step-daughter Lorie Gill of Amherst, and grandson Adam Pertee.

 

In addition to his parents, Emeric was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Stanar (1999), sisters Carol Menichini and MaryAnn Yannerella, brother Tony Carcelli, grandson Nicholas Pertee, and son-in-law Mark Pertee.

 

Friends will be received at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Friday from 10 a.m. until noon at which the service will take place with Pastor Garry Griffith of First Community Church of God, Lorain, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
