Charles "Charlie" A. Zvosechz, 77, of Henrietta Township, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He attended Elyria City Schools. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. in 1965 and was deployed to Vietnam. Charles was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. After his military service, Charlie moved to Henrietta Township in 1973 where he resided until his death. Charles loved fishing and hunting. One of his greatest joys was his garden, growing many of his plants from seed in his small greenhouse. In recent years he planted a large area of flowers for cutting for his wife, Marilyn. He had been active in youth soccer, coaching his sons for many years. He started the Firelands High School soccer program in the late 1980s and coached for two years, leading them to many victories. Charlie was a man of strong faith attending mass and Eucharist Adoration regularly before his illness.
Charlie is survived by his wife Marilyn Zvosechz (nee Carlin), sons David Zvosechz (Jocelyn), Kevin Zvosechz, daughter Stacy (Zvosechz) Jacobs (Byron), sisters Noreen Donat (Zvosechz) and Sharon Kozlowski (Zvosechz), brother John Zvosechz, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlie leaves behind the light of his life, his grandchildren, Tatiyana, Keely, Zoe, Jaedyn, Zakeri, Peyton, and great granddaughter Brynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel (Tomasheska) and George Zvosechz, brothers George (Karen) Zvosechz and Michael Zvosechz, and brother-in-laws Steve Donat and Timothy Kozlowski. A funeral mass officiated by Rev. Timothy O'Connor, pastor, will be celebrated 11 a.m., on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 S. Lake, Street, South Amherst. Interment with military rites conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Road, Lorain.
