Amy Wolanski Obituary

Amy Lynn Wolanski, affectionately known as Amy, passed away on March 22, 2024 at the age of 53, in her hometown of Doylestown, Ohio. Born on June 11, 1970 to Lynda Weigand and John Dietrich, Amy was a courageous warrior in the fight against two insidious diseases - Multiple Sclerosis and Lung Cancer. She was a cherished member of the Amherst community, where she war born and raised and continued to enrich the lives of those around her.

Amy graduated from Amherst High School in 1988 and received a Bachelor's in Education from Kent State University. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career as a school teacher in Akron, Ohio.  Later she would go on to edit law books for Thomson Reuters West Law. As an aside, Amy was a professional vocalist and frequently performed at local establishments. She played several instruments, to include the piano and guitar.

In 2008, Amy married the love of her life, Paul Wolanski, in a beautiful ceremony at the local community church in Amherst, Ohio. Together, they raised their son, Samuel Dietrich Wolanski.

Amy's hobbies included arts & crafts, making jewelry, music, reading magazines, and binging her favorite shows (Law & Order - NCIS).  Amy's warm, welcoming kitchen was the heart of her home, where she made the best dishes for family and friends and hosted memorable Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners. Her generosity and storytelling made her a beloved figure in her family.

Amy joins her mother, Lynda, who died of the same diseases. Amy's legacy of love and caring lives on through her family. She is survived by her father John; her step-mother Barbara; husband Paul; her son Samuel; her sister, Ellen; step sister Ashley; her brother, Johnny; step brother, Brad; alone with their families.

Amy Lynn Wolanski will be remember as a loving wife, mother, and friend. her spirit of generosity and love will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
